The MAKAUT Juggling Act

Between CA1, CA2, CA3, CA4, regular classes, lab practicals, End Semester Exams, and those mandatory MAR points—MAKAUT students have A LOT on their plate. How do you manage it all without losing your sanity?

The Core Problem

Unlike schools where you had one big exam at the end, MAKAUT keeps you on your toes with continuous assessments. Add MAR activities to the mix, and you're constantly switching contexts. The key is intentional scheduling.

Step 1: Use a Digital Calendar

Seriously. Google Calendar, Notion, or even a simple planner. Mark these immediately:

  • CA submission deadlines
  • Lab practical dates
  • Semester exam schedule
  • MAR activity windows (before deadlines!)
Calendar and planning

Step 2: The 3-3-2 Weekly Split

Try dividing your week like this:

  • 3 days: Focused on upcoming CAs and assignments
  • 3 days: Regular study and revision for ESE
  • ~2 hours total: Dedicated to MAR activities or planning them

Adjust based on deadlines, but having a structure prevents last-minute chaos.

Step 3: Batch Your MAR Activities

Don't do MAR activities randomly. Plan them strategically:

  • Do 2-3 activities in one month when workload is lighter (e.g., early semester)
  • Use semester breaks for MOOCs or longer commitments
  • Generate certificates immediately using Get MAR so you don't forget

Step 4: Prioritize Using Eisenhower Matrix

Classify tasks:

  • Urgent + Important: CA due tomorrow, exam prep in last week
  • Important, Not Urgent: Regular study, planning MAR activities early
  • Urgent, Not Important: Random club events (okay to skip if swamped)
  • Neither: Social media scrolling (minimize!)

Step 5: Build Buffer Time

Never plan at 100% capacity. Always keep 10-15% of your week as buffer for unexpected tasks, illness, or just mental health days. Burnout is real.

The "Good Enough" Philosophy

Hot take: You don't need to score 24/25 in every CA. Aim for consistency (18-20+) and save your peak energy for high-weightage ESE. Perfectionism is the enemy of time management.

Remember: College is a marathon, not a sprint. Sustainable habits > heroic all-nighters.
